Bastion™ FortiShell by Green Plank is a new-generation architectural wall system designed to bring together the warmth of natural wood, the durability of capped composite technology and the clean linear appearance of modern composite acoustic panels.
Designed for both exterior wall cladding and interior wall decoration, Bastion™ gives architects, designers, builders and homeowners the freedom to create a consistent wood-inspired design language from the outside of a building into its interior spaces.
The engineered hollow profile measures 169 × 25 mm, weighs approximately 2.10 kg per linear metre and is supplied in a practical 2.9-metre length. Its lightweight construction makes the panels easier to transport, handle and install – an important advantage for professional installers as well as the growing DIY market.
Depending on the applicable specification, Bastion™ contains approximately 55–60% beech hardwood fibre, selected European-sourced recycled HDPE (rHDPE) and functional additives sourced from Europe and/or the USA. The core is then co-extruded with Green Plank's FortiShell™ protective surface layer, developed to provide additional surface protection and strong resistance to everyday scratching and wear.
Bastion™ has been developed for architects and homeowners who want more than conventional wall cladding.
Its contemporary linear appearance allows the same design concept to be used across building façades, exterior feature walls, entrances, garden buildings, interior feature walls, hallways, living spaces, commercial interiors and selected moisture-prone areas.
The visual rhythm created by the profile gives Bastion™ the architectural character associated with modern composite acoustic panels, while the WPC construction provides the practical advantages of a durable composite material.
This combination makes Bastion™ particularly interesting for modern Scandinavian architecture, renovation projects and interiors where designers want the warmth of wood without the routine maintenance associated with many traditional timber surfaces.
At the heart of Bastion™ is its FortiShell™ capped surface technology.
During production, the composite core is co-extruded with a protective outer layer. This creates an integrated surface rather than simply applying a conventional coating after the profile has been manufactured.
FortiShell™ is developed to provide strong scratch resistance, improved surface protection and long-term resistance to everyday environmental exposure.
For exterior cladding, this protective layer helps the panel cope with the demands of changing weather. For interior applications, it provides a practical surface for areas where walls may be exposed to regular contact and everyday use.
The composite core of Bastion™ contains approximately 55–60% beech hardwood fibre, depending on the applicable product specification.
The wood fibre contributes to the profile's stiffness, natural character and wood-inspired appearance. It is combined with selected European-sourced recycled HDPE to create a balanced Wood Plastic Composite formulation.
For high-quality composite acoustic panels, performance is not determined by wood-fibre percentage alone. Polymer quality, additives, profile engineering, co-extrusion technology and manufacturing control all contribute to the finished product.
Bastion™ uses selected European-sourced recycled HDPE (rHDPE) within its composite formulation.
The polymer forms the matrix around the wood fibres and contributes to the profile's moisture resistance, structural integrity and suitability for demanding indoor and outdoor environments.
The use of recycled HDPE also supports a more resource-efficient approach by giving existing polymer material a new, long-term application.
A high-performance WPC system requires more than wood fibre and polymer. Bastion™ incorporates selected functional additives sourced from Europe and/or the USA.
Depending on the formulation, these additives can support properties such as UV stability, oxidation resistance, pigmentation, processing performance and the bond between the wood fibres and polymer matrix.
Together with FortiShell™ co-extrusion technology, this balanced formulation is designed to support long-term performance and surface quality.
Architects, developers and professional buyers increasingly want to know what is actually inside the materials they specify.
Bastion™ therefore offers 100% traceability of its declared raw materials, providing greater transparency around the beech hardwood fibre, recycled HDPE and functional additives used in the product.
This gives architects, distributors, contractors and homeowners greater confidence when choosing composite acoustic panels for long-term building and interior projects.
Bastion™ has a profile dimension of 169 × 25 mm and weighs approximately 2.10 kg per linear metre.
The engineered hollow construction helps reduce unnecessary material and profile weight while maintaining the distinctive architectural form of the panel.
The lower weight makes Bastion™ easier to transport, carry, position and install than many heavier solid decorative profiles.
This is particularly valuable for façade renovation, interior wall projects and DIY applications where ease of handling can make a significant difference during installation.
Bastion™ is available in a practical 2.9-metre standard length.
This length is well suited to many residential and commercial wall applications and can help create clean vertical design lines with fewer unnecessary joints.
For installers, the combination of 2.9 m length and approximately 2.10 kg/LM provides a practical balance between architectural appearance and ease of handling.
Bastion™ can be used as an architectural exterior wall cladding solution for houses and other suitable buildings.
Its linear profile creates depth and shadow across the façade, helping transform a flat wall into a more expressive architectural surface.
The wood-inspired appearance works particularly well with contemporary Scandinavian architecture and can be combined with materials such as glass, metal, stone, render and concrete.
As with all exterior cladding systems, the supporting structure, ventilation, fixing distances, movement allowances and building-envelope details must follow the applicable Green Plank technical instructions and relevant local building requirements.
Inside the building, Bastion™ can be used to create elegant decorative walls with the visual character associated with modern composite acoustic panels.
The linear surface can bring warmth and architectural rhythm to living rooms, entrances, hallways, offices, hotels, restaurants, retail environments and other interior spaces.
Where a project requires a specific acoustic absorption or sound-reduction value, performance should be verified against the acoustic test documentation for the complete installed system. The visual form of an acoustic-style panel alone should not be interpreted as a certified acoustic performance rating.
The HDPE-based composite construction and capped FortiShell™ surface make Bastion™ highly resistant to moisture compared with many untreated wood-based decorative panels.
This allows Bastion™ to be considered for selected bathroom and moisture-prone interior applications, subject to the installation design and applicable building requirements.
The profile itself does not rely on untreated natural timber for its moisture resistance. However, calling an entire wall assembly “100% waterproof” requires the complete installation – including joints, corners, penetrations, substrate and waterproofing membrane – to be designed and certified accordingly.
In wet rooms, Bastion™ should therefore be treated as the decorative surface system rather than as a substitute for any legally required waterproofing layer behind the wall finish.
For projects with additional fire-performance requirements, Bastion™ can be developed in PVC-free project-specific formulations with enhanced fire-performance characteristics on request.
This gives architects and project developers additional flexibility when selecting materials for different building types and applications.
Any specific fire-resistance or reaction-to-fire classification must correspond to the exact tested formulation and profile configuration. Where a project requires a particular Euroclass or another fire classification, the applicable test and classification documentation should always be reviewed before specification.
Bastion™ is designed for efficient installation using compatible plastic or steel clips and suitable screws, depending on the applicable installation system.
The fixing concept helps create a clean architectural appearance while making individual panels straightforward to position during installation.
Compatible clips and screws are manufactured in Europe and selected to work as part of the Green Plank system.
The relatively low profile weight and practical 2.9-metre length also make Bastion™ attractive for experienced DIY customers working on suitable interior and residential projects.
Depending on the application and applicable system specification, Bastion™ installations can be designed around support spacing of approximately 400 mm c/c or up to 600 mm c/c for selected systems.
The permitted spacing depends on whether the product is installed internally or externally, wind loading, building height, installation orientation, substructure, fixing method and other project-specific conditions.
For façade applications in particular, the final substructure and fixing distances must always be determined from the current Green Plank technical documentation and applicable structural requirements.
Colour can completely change the architectural character of a building.
Bastion™ is therefore available in 9 standard colours, providing a broad selection for residential, commercial and interior design projects.
For qualifying architectural projects and appropriate order quantities, Bastion™ can be produced in a much wider palette of up to 32 colour options.
This gives architects and designers considerably greater freedom to coordinate the composite acoustic panels with façades, windows, roofs, flooring, furniture, lighting and the overall design theme of a project.
FortiShell™ technology is designed to provide stronger surface and colour protection than an uncapped composite surface.
Selected Bastion™ specifications can be offered with long-term colour-performance protection of up to 25 years, subject to the applicable product specification, warranty conditions and defined colour-performance criteria.
This is particularly valuable for façade projects where maintaining a consistent architectural appearance over many years is an important part of the design concept.
Exterior cladding in Northern Europe may experience strong summer sunlight, heavy rain, moisture, snow, frost and repeated temperature changes.
Bastion™ is developed with these demanding conditions in mind. Its combination of beech hardwood fibre, recycled HDPE, functional additives, engineered hollow construction and FortiShell™ capped protection is designed to provide reliable long-term performance when correctly specified and installed.
Bastion™ is designed for easy cleaning and low routine maintenance.
Unlike many traditional timber wall surfaces, routine painting, staining or oiling is normally unnecessary. For ordinary maintenance, water and an appropriate cleaning product are generally sufficient.
This can be particularly valuable on façades, commercial interiors and decorative walls where reducing ongoing maintenance work is an important consideration.
Bastion™ combines efficient hollow-profile engineering with selected European recycled HDPE and traceable raw materials.
The product is developed with a focus on efficient material use, long service life and a lower CO₂ footprint. Any specific comparative carbon-footprint claim should be supported by the applicable product, LCA or environmental documentation.
A meaningful environmental assessment should consider raw-material sourcing, production, transportation, expected service life, maintenance requirements and end-of-life possibilities together.
Bastion™ is designed as a long-life architectural cladding and decorative panel system.
Selected Bastion™ systems and applications may be covered by a warranty of up to 50 years, subject to the applicable product specification, correct installation, intended application and current Green Plank warranty terms and conditions.
